The Mindfuck Meme

This is not a very nice meme! If you have any major or typical triggers, you're being warned here that you might want to keep fully clear. That said, ever misread 'midfuck meme' with an extra 'n' in it and been sorely disappointed? This one's for you!

1. Post a character! It'd sure be nice if you put their name, canon, and any prefs you might have in the subject line.
2. When other characters tag in, they'll be using ye olde RNG (1-7) to figure out just how they'll be fucking your character's mind.
3. Be royally screwed up and need therapy for decades.

Mindfuck Possibilities:

1. I Own You: It doesn't have to be sexual (though it can be). It doesn't have to be very abusive (though it might be). But you know you own this person and you will break them down until they can accept the truth of it. All that they are—body, mind, and soul—is yours. They should have known that from the beginning. Now they'll know it 'til the end.

2. We're One and the Same: What this other person doesn't get is that you're two sides of the same coin. You practically own each other! No one else will complete them the way you can. You're twins. Brothers from another mother (or was that the same mother?). They won't get away until they acknowledge that to escape is to deny everything they are. Good thing you're ready to help.

3. Nobody Has Ever Loved You (Like I Do): This person doesn't understand how worthless they are—how they've been abandoned on purpose by anyone they ever cared about. The only thing they have left—the one creature that doesn't despise them utterly—is you. And maybe you're about fed up as well and they should grovel at your feet.

4. By Your Bedside (YANDERE): You love them. You love them utterly and how have they betrayed you? Ruthlessly! Talking to others—looking at others. Disgusting. You aren't going to allow it anymore. They need to understand the importance of your love. What's that? Maybe you aren't in a relationship by any… real, official standards? Heh. That can be fixed!

5. You're a Doll, Doll: Some people just don't get it. They think they have rights the same as anyone else. They don't see how they're only a puppet or a pet. Something less than you—less than anything. They belong on a leash or sitting pretty on a shelf. Poor darling! Lucky for them you've taken an interest in setting them straight (or… really gay).

6. Stop Forcing My Hand: It's not your fault you're tying them down! It isn't your fault they need your initials engraved in their skin! They made you. They stared at you with those eyes or they did those awful things (awful being rather subjective)! You wish they could apologize enough for such atrocities. You'd love to let them go. You don't want to do this even if it's possibly getting you off to an excessive extent! You're the victim, all right? Fucker should learn to shut up when they're told to.

7. Creepozoid's Choice!: Pick any of the options above or a 7th sort of mindfuck not explicitly listed. Remember, 7 is always an open option if you'd rather not roll or if you want to mix any series of numbers together.

[She finishes tying the bandage, a little sloppily, and leaves the medical supplies nearby. At the rate he was bleeding, she'll probably have to change that bandage again...What a pain.

Her curiosity doesn't go away, either, as she stands next to him and considers.] Hmm...I wonder if there's any way to test how it recognizes a human.

It's not an object; it's a True Rune. It recognises more than just the obvious.

[ He can't believe he's even admitting the true aspects of the rune to her. The reason only reason he knows those details is a painful memory, but he doesn't want to see her try anything stupid.

And yes, he can already feel the blood matting the bandages around his hand. ]

So you can't just fool it. Especially one that absorbs souls...

[Maybe trying to seal it on some sort of artificial imitation isn't much of a plan, then.

For the moment, Rita ignores his bandaged hand. It's not like she has to change it every five minutes, right?]

That's right...

[ It's horrible feeling the blood travel along the fresh bandages. He wants to simply hang his head and fall asleep, but he refuses. He might be missing body parts when he wakes up if he does. ]

...You can't ignore me.

[blastiafreak]

Huh? I'm not ignoring you; I'm still trying to help-

[Rita's still concentrating on the rune, running through possible solutions, but she can't do much about it if Tyr dies. So it's a good thing she remembers his bandages and goes to take a look at them.

...She can't believe they're soaked through already.] Ugh, what a pain...This is why you have to be more careful.

[stargathering]

[ He glares at her weakly. ] Stop blaming this on me...

[ It's her fault. He's decided he won't put up with her shoving the blame on him. He finally glances down at his hand, deciding it can't be that bad while it's bandaged and not uncovered.

He wished he hadn't, though. The deep, dark red of blood from the gash at the center makes this all more real. Something he can see that shows what poor shape he's in. ]

[blastiafreak]

You stop pretending it's anyone's fault but yours. [She grumbles right back and starts unwinding the soaked bandages, then starts cleaning and redressing the wound again. All the while, she talks out loud.]

If this keeps going, you might lose too much blood. I don't really think it's stopping... [She sounds unsure. How does Tyr like being treated by someone who knows next to nothing about medicine or healing?]

[stargathering]

... I need to go to a doctor if you can't heal me... [ He tries to speak evenly, but there's no mistaking the shake of fear in his voice. He's going to be done in my a knife to the hand? There's ridiculous. He can't accept that. He doesn't look at her when he continues. ] I won't try to leave you if you do... I just don't want to bleed out.

Hmm...

[She finishes up with the fresh bandages, leaving the old ones in a bloody heap on the floor, while she thinks. Finally, she comes to a decision.]

...You're right. I can't treat this the way it is, and I can't let you bleed to death.

I'll have to go get some more gels. Those should stop the worst of the bleeding, so you should have a good chance of surviving. [Oh, it's not like she was going to actually let him out.]

[stargathering]

[ Gels? Good chance of survival? He looks back up at her in disbelief. ]

I need more than that and you know it... [ He feels a bit dizzier. ] Bring Estelle to heal me if you have to.

[ He can only imagine how that girl would react to this sight, though. Maybe that thought will knock some sense into her. ]

[blastiafreak]

Huh? Estelle? [Rita actually hesitates for a second now.] I can't let her know you're here, unless...

I could knock you out again and tell her I found you like this, but even if I let her go, she might talk. She'd be too worried not to. [For the most part, Rita's just thinking out loud to herself.]

But I don't want to have to lose either of you...

[stargathering]

Do you really need to keep secrets from Estelle? [ He remembered they were best friends, and he could use that to his advantage. But more than that, he hoped Estelle wouldn't keep quiet if she was down here. Yuri would help him if he knew; he dealt with Rita when she lost it before. ]

You were always seemed so close... I wouldn't expect this from you.

[blastiafreak]

[She considers it for a long moment--she considers agreeing to this and bringing Estelle, whatever the consequences might be. But...

Rita finally shakes her head.] I-I can't. You were the one who wanted me to keep the rune and the experiments a secret. [That's right; this is just another thing that Tyr can only blame on himself. Rita has nothing to do with it.]

It's best for both of you if she doesn't come.

[stargathering]

--I'm willing to make an exception for her. You trust Estelle, so... [ She might have said it's for the best, but Tyr will still argue desperately. She was definitely hesitating for a while there - she may still be. He was willing to let the rune be known for the sake of living. ] It's fine to let her know...

[blastiafreak]

I...

[She is still hesitating. But ultimately, there's just one problem-] I can't. You're still under the rune's influence, and you're not thinking straight right now. That's why you attacked me before, isn't it?

Anyway--I can't break the promise I made to keep it a secret.

[stargathering]

[ No, no. This isn't what he wants. He can't have it be like this. He begins bargaining: ]

... How about this: You can gag me. If I can't speak, I can't cast. [ Not that he thinks he can anyway. A gag would just make this all look that much worse. ] And you have me restrained enough that I couldn't attack her if I wanted to... She doesn't need to know why I'm here to heal me; there's no promise to break.

[blastiafreak]

That's no good. Estelle wouldn't ignore somewhat she thought was in trouble, even if she had the wrong idea. [Because Tyr is not in trouble! He's perfectly fine in Rita's capable hands.]

Don't worry. I have plenty of gels at home.

[stargathering]

[ There's a sinking feeling in his gut again. At this rate, he's going to dismember him and force-feed him gels to keep him from losing his pulse and nothing more. His voice loses some of its drive as he continues. ]

... If you reconsider on the way, I'm sure Estelle wouldn't really get the wrong idea. I mean, it's you. She knows you. [ He hopes. ]

[blastiafreak]

... [She...she can't fall for this. She knows it'll just get in the way of their plans.]

...And I know her. She'd stay here healing you until you woke up or she passed out.

[stargathering]

[ Oh. He can't argue with that. He assumes her saying Estelle would pass out is a hyperbole - that's something that happens to Riou, but that's usual - but can't argue against it nevertheless. ]

Fine... Just come back soon.

[blastiafreak]

[Rita has first-hand experience, too, considering Estelle healed her to exhaustion once.

She offers Tyr what might be an almost friendly, encouraging smile.] Don't worry so much. I'll be quick, okay?

[stargathering]

[ It doesn't calm him. There's some relief that she'll at least come back soon, but Estelle won't be with her. He doesn't want her to come back or be gone forever: He feels like either way, he's dead. ]

[blastiafreak]

[She falters and frowns a moment when he doesn't say anything. But...it's the rune's fault. Tyr will be happy to see her when she gets back, she's sure.] ...I'll see you soon.

[She leaves the lab. She leaves Tyr behind--restrained, alone, and bleeding, with the silence, the blastia sucking his life, and the blood-soaked bandages for company.]

[ The silence would be calming if it didn't make him imagine sounds. He could almost hear himself bleeding, and he definitely heard his own breathing and the irregular beat of his heart. He wondered what Gremio would do if he saw him like this? He had fully intended now to be stupid and get himself hurt for as long as his guardian was there, but he failed that.

He really failed that. As much as he wanted to say this wasn't his fault, a large part of it was. He knew it was definitely his fault when he let his tired eyes shut and drift into a painful, but dreamless, sleep. The arm of the chair beneath his left hand began absorbing more of his blood than the bandages. ]

[It's quite some time before Rita returns. While she's out, the fake portrait is placed in the Hall of the Missing to ensure that nobody comes looking for Tyr--this way, Rita will be able to make sure they work in peace...and that he's always with her.

Even though she takes longer than expected, she's pretty sure Tyr will probably be all right. Actually, finding him unconscious works in her favour: it's a bit difficult to get him to take one of the gels, but she's able to settle down to study his rune without resistance once his bandages are changed again. Tyr can sleep through having a few sharp implements stuck in his hand, right?]
