1. INJURY: Maybe a tiger bit you in the arm, maybe you got attacked by some douchebag with a knife, who knows? The point is, you're hurt and probably bleeding! Better do something before that gets infected. Severity of the injury is up to you, from a papercut to outright guro.

2. SICKNESS: So much for that amazing immune system of yours. Cold? Flu? Some rare illness only one in thirty million people ever get? You've caught something. Chicken noodle soup, anyone? Or, you know, a trip to the hospital. Depends.

3. FEAR/ANXIETY: You're terrified! Don't ask me why, though. You just are. (Unless that tiger from example one is back and it's staring you down...) Hyperventilation! Trembling! Sweating! The works. How unpleasant for you.

4. LOSS OF SENSES: Perfect eyesight? Godlike hearing? Say goodbye to those! Sight, touch, taste, hearing, and smell are all fair game here. And though it's not exactly a 'sense', 'ability to speak' will be added under this umbrella too.

5. DESPAIR/DEPRESSION: Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts. You feel helpless and hopeless! This sudden sorrow came from nowhere and it seems pretty hard to shake, but maybe someone will be able to pull you out of your dark, gloomy emotional rut?

6. PARALYSIS: You can't move your legs, or perhaps it's your arms that are affected... Or even your whole body if you're especially unlucky. Unfortunately, you've been paralyzed somehow. If you're a Pokemon, you'd better hope someone has a Parlyz Heal or two on hand.

7. HALLUCINATION/DELUSION: There is most definitely something in the corner waiting to spring at you! ...Except when you take another look? No, there isn't. You've suddenly started hearing and seeing things that just don't exist, as the other person in the room will gladly tell you. The hallucinations can't hurt you physically, but your mental state, on the other hand...

8. MEMORY PROBLEMS: What's your name? Where are you from? These questions might become awfully hard to answer. Your memory is deteriorating as we speak; you can't remember what the conversation you just had was about, and you may well forget that you were having a conversation at all.

9. NIGHTMARES: Went to take a peaceful nap? Time for a nightmare! Hit in the head and knocked unconscious? You're getting a nightmare too, buddy, to increase the unpleasantness of your predicament. It'll be a little hard to wake you up from your bad dream, though it will be possible. While the dream may have ended, that doesn't mean it's completely out of your mind.

10. WEAKNESS/TIREDNESS: You're tired, exhausted, and you want to rest. All of your strength has left you. It's actually requiring all of your willpower not to just fall over on the floor. You should really find a bed soon.

[ His eyes narrow slightly in confusion and he looks from her face down to her leg. He can't actually see the cut from the angle he's at, but it's more worrying that she doesn't really know the cause of her immobility. It could have been anything, though he can at least, likely, rule out something like a broken bone.

He reaches down to lightly touch her calf. He speaks more quietly but no less seriously. ] Does it hurt?

No, it... [She watches his fingers resting on her calf, but doesn't feel them at all--that monster paralyzed her.] It doesn't hurt or anything--I can't feel a thing!

Nothing? [ He pulls his hand back in shock. How could she be paralysed? It was stupid to ask, but he wanted to know. He couldn't watch out for something she didn't see.

He moves to hold her shoulders. He wanted to move her—if her arms gave out...—but he also thought...she might more than just physical support. ] Do you know the extent of it?

No, nothing! [Her heart is racing. She didn't think to bring any medicine--besides a couple gels--with her and even then, she's never totally lost feeling like this.

Tyr's touch on her shoulders, and just the fact that he's here, calms her a little bit, and she tries to concentrate on her other limbs. She manages to shift her left leg, though it's also going numb.] I think...it's just my legs right now.

[ We made dinner together and it was really yummy! And we played Vesperia up to where Rita shows up! and then Jane stayed up all night so I'm letting her sleep in... ]

[ Right now... So it's clearly spreading. If not for the fact her legs are completely covered, he'd check them to see if there's any visible signs to check for the spread. (The little he can see isn't much help, either...)

It might be moving too quickly for that to matter, though. He didn't bother bringing medicine either, much less any to cure paralysis.

He hates this; this is already really serious. He's not going to think about if it progresses through her organs ] All right...

[ The panic is almost clouding his mind, but he shoves it aside. ] ...We need to get to a doctor. Hold onto me.

[ He's not sure how he'll hold her, but he'll do it. ]

I--O-okay...b-but what if...

[Rita might not be a healer, but she's at least somewhat aware of what could happen if the paralysis is too potent. The very idea makes her shudder and gasp--is it getting harder to breathe? Or is it just in her head?

Her fingers curl over Tyr's upper arm tightly, maybe almost painfully.]

I'm going to get you to a doctor!

[ She better not be losing air that quickly, but the way she's reacting is really scaring him. He doesn't care if she break his skin with her nails as long as she stays alive.

Even if it's awkward, he tries to slip his arms beneath her shoulders to pick her up, or at least shift her to a better position, closer against him. Under other circumstances, he would have been okay with simply dragging her as they walked, but... He really will need to pick her up. What if whatever attacked her struck her again? He wouldn't forgive himself.

He tries to have a calming voice, but it comes out a little quiet and flat. ] Don't even think about your legs. I'll find a way to make them better...

[She can't deny that she's panicking, and she holds tightly to him. What was she thinking, coming out here alone? What if Tyr hadn't even come? There isn't even any guarantee that he'll make it on time, if it's really that bad...]

[ He shakes his head stubbornly. She's not going to die like this, not here. He knows she's scared and panicking maybe even more than he is, but he's the one that has to get her out. ]

We're not going to just give up because of that! I'm going to get you help!

[ Awkwardly, he tries to hold her and pick her up along with himself. He'll probably have to change it later, but... ]

[She doesn't say anything--whether she accepts what he says or is just so overcome with fear she can't get the words out--just digs her fingers into his arms to hold on as tightly as possible while he lifts her. She can't do anything to help him in any case, completely incapable of walking as she is.]

[ He thinks it could be either, since she's obviously so scared that she might bruise him with her fingers. He ignores his pain in favour of focusing on the pain she must be in (even if she's paralysed...).

He pulls her completely against him, chest-to-chest, head turned at her neck, and just... tries to grab at her enough to get her feet off the ground. Like a reverse piggy-back. ]

...Put your arms around my neck, okay? It'll be easier to hold on like that.

[It's Tyr, and he's trying to help, so she doesn't protest if his hands grab anywhere awkward. It'd be a stupid thing to complain about right now, anyway.]

O-okay...

[She shifts her grip--maybe a little relieved that her arms and fingers haven't lost any feeling--and links her hands behind his neck, face buried in his shoulder.]

[ ...This isn't going to work like he thought it would, and he feels stupid for not realising it. With her hands no longer digging into his skin, he feels a little physical relief, though there's definitely soreness. He moves an arm around below her waist and the other behind her back to scoop her up completely, not just awkwardly letting her dangle there.

While he wants to know how she's doing physically, he doesn't dare actually ask her. He wraps his arms tightly around her and takes a few cautious steps around, to test it. ]

You'll be okay, Rita... I promise.

[She holds him more tightly, wishing she could at least do something with her legs besides drag them. At least they're moving now...Maybe Tyr can do it. He's reliable; she knows that, even if she can't stop feeling so afraid.

She takes a deep, shuddering breath in an attempt to calm down, and her reply comes a bit muffled from where she's pressing her face into his shoulder.]

I...Okay...Thanks.

[ He's really trying to just. fully pick her up in his arms. This position won't work at all; they won't get anywhere.

He's a little worried about carrying her—she's numb and can't tell him if she'd being hurt—but he has to. He bends over a little and tries to catch the backs of her legs and move them to carry her in a more princess style. They won't just be dangling then. ]

Yeah... [ His voice has turned soft without him realising it. He feels sort of worthless like this; he can't even pick her up properly. ] If...it gets better, tell me. [ And if it gets worse, but he doesn't actually want to hear that. ]

[She wonders if it will. She has no idea--and at the moment, she can't imagine that it's likely, either.

She lets Tyr move her as he will, but it does make her a bit concerned.] Hey...You're managing, right?

[ He nods. Really, she shouldn't be worrying about him. ]

Yeah, I'm fine... I just...never had to hold someone like this before...

[It gives her something else to think about, even if it's not the healthiest distraction...and it's not working all that well, either, as her reply comes out strained and high-pitched.]

I-it's fine! Just hurry! [She knows it's not fair to shout at him, but she can't help it.]

—Right! Let's... We'll be there soon!

[ She's right to yell at him; he should be running. He hugs her close to his chest (partially to keep her secure, partially for his own comfort) and begins running through the forest haphazardly, stumbling through the brush but trying not to run into anything that could actually hurt them.

Can he even do anything for her but run? It's a good thing, he thinks, that she's so light and small... She seems fragile too, though. He doesn't even realise he left his staff back on the forest floor, but he couldn't use it now anyway. ]

[She's glad he's moving, even if it's a bit jarring and uncomfortable--she can put up with a little shaking if it gets them back quickly. She's just...more scared than she would have imagined, and presses her face into Tyr's shirt to hide her face. Without him, who knows what would have happened.

Her fingers curl in the fabric of his shirt, just hanging on...but it leads her to a frightening realization: the sensation is starting to disappear from her fingers now, too.]

It...It's not getting any better! It's spreading!

[ Tyr felt his heart sink into a cold lump in his stomach. He presses his head down into Rita's hair, like keeping her close would help. ]

[ Now that she's voicing the same concerns he has, they come to his mind again. Her entire body could complete shut down from the inside. Her heart could just stop beating. ]

Don't think about that! You're... No matter what happens, I'll...

[ They really aren't going to get to a hospital any time soon, though... ]
