1. INJURY: Maybe a tiger bit you in the arm, maybe you got attacked by some douchebag with a knife, who knows? The point is, you're hurt and probably bleeding! Better do something before that gets infected. Severity of the injury is up to you, from a papercut to outright guro.

2. SICKNESS: So much for that amazing immune system of yours. Cold? Flu? Some rare illness only one in thirty million people ever get? You've caught something. Chicken noodle soup, anyone? Or, you know, a trip to the hospital. Depends.

3. FEAR/ANXIETY: You're terrified! Don't ask me why, though. You just are. (Unless that tiger from example one is back and it's staring you down...) Hyperventilation! Trembling! Sweating! The works. How unpleasant for you.

4. LOSS OF SENSES: Perfect eyesight? Godlike hearing? Say goodbye to those! Sight, touch, taste, hearing, and smell are all fair game here. And though it's not exactly a 'sense', 'ability to speak' will be added under this umbrella too.

5. DESPAIR/DEPRESSION: Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts. You feel helpless and hopeless! This sudden sorrow came from nowhere and it seems pretty hard to shake, but maybe someone will be able to pull you out of your dark, gloomy emotional rut?

6. PARALYSIS: You can't move your legs, or perhaps it's your arms that are affected... Or even your whole body if you're especially unlucky. Unfortunately, you've been paralyzed somehow. If you're a Pokemon, you'd better hope someone has a Parlyz Heal or two on hand.

7. HALLUCINATION/DELUSION: There is most definitely something in the corner waiting to spring at you! ...Except when you take another look? No, there isn't. You've suddenly started hearing and seeing things that just don't exist, as the other person in the room will gladly tell you. The hallucinations can't hurt you physically, but your mental state, on the other hand...

8. MEMORY PROBLEMS: What's your name? Where are you from? These questions might become awfully hard to answer. Your memory is deteriorating as we speak; you can't remember what the conversation you just had was about, and you may well forget that you were having a conversation at all.

9. NIGHTMARES: Went to take a peaceful nap? Time for a nightmare! Hit in the head and knocked unconscious? You're getting a nightmare too, buddy, to increase the unpleasantness of your predicament. It'll be a little hard to wake you up from your bad dream, though it will be possible. While the dream may have ended, that doesn't mean it's completely out of your mind.

10. WEAKNESS/TIREDNESS: You're tired, exhausted, and you want to rest. All of your strength has left you. It's actually requiring all of your willpower not to just fall over on the floor. You should really find a bed soon.

[That does bring up her concern a bit. Even if they make it back, who's to say there couldn't be more of them?]

Y-you're right...We should be more careful, or...

[She lifts her head a little so that she isn't just mumbling into his shirt.] I-I was able to get the stinger that it got me with. I wasn't sure at the time if it would come in handy, but--maybe someone could create an antidote...

[It's a little better thinking about that right now. If she thinks about future possibilities beyond getting to the doctor, she can calm down a little.]

[ That does make him more hopeful. It's always Rita who gives him non-empty hope. He looks down at her with wider eyes that aren't as clouded anymore. ]

They could! Maybe there's already an antidote and they'll know what the poison is from the stinger.

[His hope, in return, makes her feel a bit encouraged.]

Y-yeah...Maybe they will, if it's shown up before...

You can't be the first person to be stung like this. I'm sure there's an antidote of some type.

[ He's paying even less attention to what he's doing, though, and has a heavy stumble over some debris. ]

Ah--hey-!

[It startles her, and she barely realizes as it shakes her already-loose grip free from around his neck.]

Rita...

[ He notices now how weak her hold around him really was. Even with all the hope and possibilities, it's spreading too fast. He's almost tempted to ask if she can feel the rest of her arms, or if her chest and stomach will be the next parts to shut down. ]

Sorry— I'll be more careful.

[ If that means slowing down, though, he's lying. ]

I-it's okay. I'm fine.

[At least, his stumble didn't make her any worse than she already was. She's still a little concerned, but she wraps her arms around him again as best she can--those she can still move. For now.]

[ He feels more relieved than he'd admit that she could put her arms around him again, but it might show on his face. ]

Good... If you're uncomfortable, just tell me and...

[After she says that, she does realize that it's spreading much more slowly through her hands.]

I think...It's not as bad anymore. I mean, it's not going away, but...

[ He feels better hearing that, too, and he manages a little smile. He gives the side of her chest a little squeeze with his hand. ]

Has the progression slowed, or...?

[ Is she just getting used to it... ]

[She lets out a slightly shaky, but relieved breath. As long as it keeps slowing down...she thinks it'll be all right.]

Yeah...I think so. It hasn't gotten any further than my hands.

[ Maybe it'll even rescind, but Tyr doubts it. ]

That's...really great. [ So she might be okay after all. He actually tries to be more careful as he jumps around things. ] You'll be okay...

[Rita isn't so sure either, but after thinking she was going to die, even this is better.]

Y-yeah...Thanks. [For the first time since this started, she can glance up and give him a slight smile. Words really can't express how grateful she is that he was there.]

[ Seeing that smile, he thinks she's starting to have hope, too. He smiles more brightly, confidently at her. He's not sure if there's anything for her to thank him for yet, but he won't say anything about it. ]

I'd always help you...

[She blushes and hides her face in his shirt again. She feels so appreciative, just to have him there and encouraging her.]

Th-thanks...

I...I don't know what I would've done.

[ Usually he'd think she's cute when she blushes, but he can't when she's like this. He just wants to help her. ]

You would have found a way to get help anyway...

[ He doesn't say it to degrade himself—it was extremely lucky he found her when he did—but Rita isn't helpless. She'd definitely find something, somehow. Even if he doesn't know how... ]

I don't know...I mean, I have the device with me, but...Who knows how long that would've taken.

[She doesn't want to think about what could've happened if a stronger monster had shown up with her in this condition. And besides that...

Her voice lowers to a mumble again.]

And I-I'm just glad it was you, anyway.

[ If his face wasn't already flushed from running, he would have blushed when she said that. It doesn't matter why she said it; it still has that effect on him. ]

I would have come as quickly as I could anyway for you...

[ But finding someone in the woods is next to impossible, as Tyr well knows. He might have never found her. ]

[With her face tucked into his chest, she couldn't see his flushed face, anyway. His reply stirs a warm feeling in her heart--even knowing just as well as he does that it'd be hard to find her, just knowing he was there and looking and having him to talk to on the device would make her feel better. Like when she was trapped in the fountain shard.]

Hey...Tyr. I, uh...You're really reliable, you know, so...Thanks.

[ If the situation weren't so bad, saying that would have made him blush. It makes him want to get her to the hospital even faster now, though. The forest is finally thinning out, though, to the outskirts of the city. ]

You don't need to thank me... You're my best friend, Rita...

[Maybe it's because of this brush with death--even if death in the City isn't really the end, it's still terrifying--that she feels a little sappy. It really touches her to hear that.]

...I'm glad. You know...to have you as a friend.

[ It's cute that she's sappy now, and it takes his mind off the possibility of her dying. They're best friends, and they'll be okay. ]

[That's all she can really think to say. Tyr's done so much for her, and he's been here to help her--she feels much calmer now. It'll definitely be okay. He'll make sure of it, and Rita believes in him.]

[ They're finally out of the forest and Tyr's feet hit against the stone streets finally. He doesn't know how long it's been or how fast he's been running, but it's easier to rush along now. He doesn't really know what to say, but he doesn't want to go quiet on her even though he's breathing heavily. ]

[She can hear the change from soft ground to hard pavement, and breathes a little sigh of relief. It's still good to know they're almost there, even though she isn't panicking anymore.

In Tyr's arms like this, she can clearly hear his laboured breathing and his beating heart. She's not about to tell him to slow down, but...]
