1. INJURY: Maybe a tiger bit you in the arm, maybe you got attacked by some douchebag with a knife, who knows? The point is, you're hurt and probably bleeding! Better do something before that gets infected. Severity of the injury is up to you, from a papercut to outright guro.

2. SICKNESS: So much for that amazing immune system of yours. Cold? Flu? Some rare illness only one in thirty million people ever get? You've caught something. Chicken noodle soup, anyone? Or, you know, a trip to the hospital. Depends.

3. FEAR/ANXIETY: You're terrified! Don't ask me why, though. You just are. (Unless that tiger from example one is back and it's staring you down...) Hyperventilation! Trembling! Sweating! The works. How unpleasant for you.

4. LOSS OF SENSES: Perfect eyesight? Godlike hearing? Say goodbye to those! Sight, touch, taste, hearing, and smell are all fair game here. And though it's not exactly a 'sense', 'ability to speak' will be added under this umbrella too.

5. DESPAIR/DEPRESSION: Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts. You feel helpless and hopeless! This sudden sorrow came from nowhere and it seems pretty hard to shake, but maybe someone will be able to pull you out of your dark, gloomy emotional rut?

6. PARALYSIS: You can't move your legs, or perhaps it's your arms that are affected... Or even your whole body if you're especially unlucky. Unfortunately, you've been paralyzed somehow. If you're a Pokemon, you'd better hope someone has a Parlyz Heal or two on hand.

7. HALLUCINATION/DELUSION: There is most definitely something in the corner waiting to spring at you! ...Except when you take another look? No, there isn't. You've suddenly started hearing and seeing things that just don't exist, as the other person in the room will gladly tell you. The hallucinations can't hurt you physically, but your mental state, on the other hand...

8. MEMORY PROBLEMS: What's your name? Where are you from? These questions might become awfully hard to answer. Your memory is deteriorating as we speak; you can't remember what the conversation you just had was about, and you may well forget that you were having a conversation at all.

9. NIGHTMARES: Went to take a peaceful nap? Time for a nightmare! Hit in the head and knocked unconscious? You're getting a nightmare too, buddy, to increase the unpleasantness of your predicament. It'll be a little hard to wake you up from your bad dream, though it will be possible. While the dream may have ended, that doesn't mean it's completely out of your mind.

10. WEAKNESS/TIREDNESS: You're tired, exhausted, and you want to rest. All of your strength has left you. It's actually requiring all of your willpower not to just fall over on the floor. You should really find a bed soon.

[She shakes her head and tightens her arms around him, wishing it were true.]

It is right! It's starting in my hands now!

[ He wants it to be true, too. Even though he's holding her tightly, he doesn't know if he could carry her if she was just dead weight. ]

But... [ His stubbornness is draining fast. ] I won't let it get further!

[She's shaking a little, terrified now that she knows it's still spreading. How long can she even keep her hold on him?]

But you can't stop it! Wh-what if it...It might get to my lungs, or...

[ Now that she's voicing the same concerns he has, they come to his mind again. Her entire body could complete shut down from the inside. Her heart could just stop beating. ]

Don't think about that! You're... No matter what happens, I'll...

[ They really aren't going to get to a hospital any time soon, though... ]

I...I can't!

[Even if he says that, there's no way she can not fret about it, especially when her hands are getting steadily more numb.]

[ He can't stop thinking about it either. He's too scared for her to even think about where he's going other than out.

He can't bring her any closer, but he wishes he could. He wishes doing that would help her. ] But...I'll save you. You can't just die!

I-

[She's terrified, yes, but...She doesn't want to give up, either. That'd be like saying she definitely will die, and Tyr's trying--he's really trying.

Although still shaky and emotional, her reply is considerably less hysterical.] I-I won't die...

[ He at least feels a little relieved by her response. If she gave up, he wouldn't know what to do. ~~Probably just fall and hold her so she can die in some semblance of peace...~~

Instead, he keeps running and stumbling around the brush, surprised he hasn't just tripped and crashed with her. He can't keep his voice from shaking with panic, even though his voice is just quiet now. ]

That's right. No matter what... It'll be okay later.

[Tyr panicking shouldn't be comforting. And it isn't quite, exactly, but a part of Rita is relieved that he's so worried about her and trying so hard to save her. It makes her think that it might really be okay. Somehow, he could make it.]

Y-yeah...It will.

[ Tyr wants to make it even though he's losing confidence. She really might just die, and he's doing her a disservice by being ever seeing her and holding her now.

But he can't abandon her to die alone either. Even if she wouldn't come back later.

For her, though, he'll try to pretend he isn't sure she'll die. ] I'm going to kill whatever did this to you, too.

[She believes in Tyr, at least. More than almost anyone else, she trusts that he's there for her.

After a second of silence, her reply is quiet.] Thanks...

But you know, I...I already killed it earlier. It wasn't strong--I-I didn't think it could do anything... [And that mistake might just be the worst she's ever made.]

[ So much for revenge... He shifts her a little in his arms to keep a good grip on her. Since she can't feel what's going on with her legs, he has to watch out for them more. ]

... Those are the worst types because they do things like this. I'll just...try to make sure one doesn't strike you like this again, then...

[ Not that he can protect her even if she needed it, he thinks. ]

[That does bring up her concern a bit. Even if they make it back, who's to say there couldn't be more of them?]

Y-you're right...We should be more careful, or...

[She lifts her head a little so that she isn't just mumbling into his shirt.] I-I was able to get the stinger that it got me with. I wasn't sure at the time if it would come in handy, but--maybe someone could create an antidote...

[It's a little better thinking about that right now. If she thinks about future possibilities beyond getting to the doctor, she can calm down a little.]

[ That does make him more hopeful. It's always Rita who gives him non-empty hope. He looks down at her with wider eyes that aren't as clouded anymore. ]

They could! Maybe there's already an antidote and they'll know what the poison is from the stinger.

[His hope, in return, makes her feel a bit encouraged.]

Y-yeah...Maybe they will, if it's shown up before...

You can't be the first person to be stung like this. I'm sure there's an antidote of some type.

[ He's paying even less attention to what he's doing, though, and has a heavy stumble over some debris. ]

Ah--hey-!

[It startles her, and she barely realizes as it shakes her already-loose grip free from around his neck.]

Rita...

[ He notices now how weak her hold around him really was. Even with all the hope and possibilities, it's spreading too fast. He's almost tempted to ask if she can feel the rest of her arms, or if her chest and stomach will be the next parts to shut down. ]

Sorry— I'll be more careful.

[ If that means slowing down, though, he's lying. ]

I-it's okay. I'm fine.

[At least, his stumble didn't make her any worse than she already was. She's still a little concerned, but she wraps her arms around him again as best she can--those she can still move. For now.]

[ He feels more relieved than he'd admit that she could put her arms around him again, but it might show on his face. ]

Good... If you're uncomfortable, just tell me and...

I think...It's not as bad anymore. I mean, it's not going away, but...

[ He feels better hearing that, too, and he manages a little smile. He gives the side of her chest a little squeeze with his hand. ]

Has the progression slowed, or...?

[ Is she just getting used to it... ]

[She lets out a slightly shaky, but relieved breath. As long as it keeps slowing down...she thinks it'll be all right.]

Yeah...I think so. It hasn't gotten any further than my hands.

[ Maybe it'll even rescind, but Tyr doubts it. ]

That's...really great. [ So she might be okay after all. He actually tries to be more careful as he jumps around things. ] You'll be okay...

[Rita isn't so sure either, but after thinking she was going to die, even this is better.]

Y-yeah...Thanks. [For the first time since this started, she can glance up and give him a slight smile. Words really can't express how grateful she is that he was there.]
