[God why did he go and say that? He could have said just anything else. He knows how much it hurts. Why did he have to say that to his other self? Tir could almost feel the sadness permeating the area.

He was almost hurt when Tyr released his hand, but the touch on his shoulder drew his eyes. The touch was gentle, comforting. Something to focus on, instead of the pain that he had managed to shove aside for so long.

His focus was singled out so strongly on Tyr's touch that he almost missed it when he first spoke. He knew...so that was an answer. His other self was older, as he had initially felt. Tir couldn't help but to feel bad at bringing up this memory.

He nearly started to apologize, when the hand left his shoulder, touch gentle as fingers brushed back his bangs. The touch, the following words of a brighter future, they stalled his words before they even formed. He remained silent for a time, before gently he leaned into the touch, eyes finally lifted to Tyr with so many questions warring within them.

'How can you be so sure?', 'Do you promise?', 'How can it possibly get better?'... Yet in the end, they all seemed to reconcile themselves into one thing. Trust. He knew himself better than to question. He just felt his older self wouldn't be simply saying that for his benefit. Not unless it was true.]

...thank you... [He murmured, voice quiet and still carrying with it the apology he had never managed to say in words. He couldn't quite manage a smile, not yet. But somehow his trust in Tyr's words had lifted some of the weight of his sadness.]
